New Friends

What an Amazing Group!

“Early on, we all bonded over our shared love of music, and we were great friends from there on out – so many inside jokes and funny moments. On our last night,  we connected all our rain flys to form on mega tent. It was so much fun and such a good way to end the trip.”

Learning on the Go

NO PRIOR

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

At Overland, students are not expected to have prior experience. Instead, our leaders are trained to be teachers themselves. Their goal is to welcome their students to the outdoors in supportive, inclusive ways and to show them how to be successful on their trip. Students will contribute meaningfully throughout the trip: learning to set up and take down their tents; shopping for, preparing, and cleaning up group meals; packing their own backpacks; and more specialized tasks depending on student age and trip itinerary. Sharing these daily tasks creates spirited groups and enstills a sense of ownership for the students.

When the World Opens Up

BREATHTAKING VIEWS

Never been backpacking before? Don’t worry. With a supportive group, and incredible scenery, even the most challenging activities are achievable. And the sense of pride is unparalleled. Take it from Cara:

“My favorite section of the trip was definitely backpacking…

When we got to the top of the steep uphill on day three the view was stunning and everyone felt so accomplished. We then ate lunch with a picture perfect view!”

“It was truly the trip of a lifetime and I am so grateful to have done it with all these amazing people! I could not have had a better group or better leaders!”
