Abby Griffith

Some of my greatest memories from growing up are of building boats out of bark and leaves with my sister and racing them down the river behind our house. As I look back on these moments, I notice that my draw to boat making had more to do with relationship building than it did with a desire to build a fast boat.

I have come to believe that there is no greater tool for connecting with and learning about other people than exploring the natural world together. In college, my passion for the outdoors inspired me to begin leading trips. On the drive home from a day of climbing, my co-leader told me about her time leading for Overland. I am so grateful that she suggested I apply to lead the following summer. My two summers leading trips in Colorado and Norway were some of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my life. As a member of the full time team, I look forward to re-immersing myself into the Overland community that I have come to love and contributing to it year-round. 

At Overland I have found a uniquely passionate group of people who care deeply about crafting groups of students that will grow into strong communities as they explore incredible parts of the planet. As a member of the Admissions team, I am excited to be a part of building those groups that will both nurture and challenge our students.
