Jack Owens

Growing up, I threw myself into as many avenues of performing and interacting with music as possible, a passion that has worked seamlessly into my love for the outdoors. Every trail has its own sound, every river its own beat, and Overland has taught me how to truly listen. 

My first time backpacking was during my first-year orientation trip at Middlebury College. I immediately fell in love with the routine that comes with the trails, so when I heard about Overland from a classmate, I was hooked. I led Yellowstone Teton Explorer in 2021 and after seeing the impact that a few weeks in the outdoors can have on students, I couldn’t come back soon enough to lead Alpine Explorer in 2022. The warm and driven community that Overland has so carefully curated drew me to join the Trip Planning team in 2023, and I have thoroughly enjoyed working to help students have the experience of a lifetime. 

I have always been a planner, and there is nothing like seeing the widest of smiles in pictures of a trip that I worked tirelessly to perfect. I can’t wait to see all the smiles that come from this summer!
