Lola Murnighan

Routine hikes up Montague Hill from my grandfather’s house in Vermont first taught me the beauty of taking it all in – the sounds, the scenes, the people. Originally from Santa Fe, New Mexico and having spent most of my childhood in the New York City area, I’ve found home in the outdoors far and wide. From skiing to ocean dips to backpacking, the deep joy and the steadfast community keep me coming back.

I often think back to the impact my Overland leaders had on me as a student in Maine. It was a joy to put myself in their shoes for two summers leading, in Alaska and Switzerland, and to see the same discovery of the outdoors and depth of friendship in my own students. I remain deeply inspired by this work and by the students and leaders who charge headfirst into adventure and connection. 

There is truly no place like Overland. I am so excited to work alongside a compassionate and wildly dedicated team to help students and leaders build long-lasting experiences of growth, teamwork, and a love for being outside.
