In the United States, very few mountains can match the magnificence of the Grand Teton, in Wyoming, or Mount Shasta, in California.
Every summer, Overland groups climb these famous mountains, working together to overcome challenges, and celebrating their shared accomplishments every step of the way.
The Grand Teton, shooting skyward from the valley north of Jackson Hole, is America’s most recognizable summit, all granite and crag, calling out to climbers and skiers in every season. We’ll work closely with our partners at Exum, world-famous professional climbing guides, who teach students technical mountaineering skills to ensure everyone is safe on the mountain.

Mount Shasta, the jewel of Northern California, looms over the landscape, a singular snow-capped peak above a sea of pine trees. On a clear day, it can be seen from the Central Valley, 140 miles away. Similarly, we’ll work with a trusted outfitter, Shasta Mountain Guides, in the planning, preparation, and climbing process.

Challenge Trips at Overland are an incredible opportunity for our oldest students to accomplish something that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives. Over the course of three incredible weeks, they’ll work towards a common goal: standing on top of one of world’s most incredible summits. Whether traveling in the Lower 48, on Shasta or the Grand, or venturing overseas to the Swiss Alps or to Tanzania’s Mount Kilimanjaro, students learn both technical and interpersonal skills, discover how gritty and capable they truly are, and leave their trip with a huge sense of accomplishment.
Join us this summer, and experience the magic of an Overland trip yourself.
