Teddy Simpson

Hometown: Morristown, New Jersey
College: Colby College

At Colby College, Teddy Simpson was the co-coordinator for the Outdoor Orientation Trips program for all first-year students.

Originally from Morristown, New Jersey, Teddy recently graduated from Colby College with a degree in environmental policy. During his time at Colby, he was a leader for the outing club, where he mostly led hiking trips. Teddy also led backpacking and canoeing trips for Colby’s Outdoor Orientation Trips in the fall. This past summer, he had the incredible opportunity to stay on campus in Waterville and plan the COOT program with one other student. They organized gear, planned leader training, placed the first-years on trips and organized the logistics for each trip. During the spring of his junior year, Teddy studied on the south island of New Zealand, getting to take advantage of its phenomenal natural scenery for a few months. In his free time, Teddy loved being on Colby Improv and making omelettes.

In 2014, Teddy was a member of Overland’s Support Staff, and he led Berkshire Adventure and Mountains & Sea Adventure. In 2015, he led Maine Coast Leadership. He writes, “I can’t get our sunset dessert circles from Maine Coast Leadership out of my head. We’d sit on the rocky coast of Hurricane Island and watch the clouds explode back on the coast as we reflected on our day. Those moments are magic.”
