Hometown: Annapolis, Maryland
College: Kenyon College
At Kenyon College, Elise Altschuler was a member of the varsity tennis team, volunteered in a local Head Start classroom and worked in the admissions office as a senior admissions fellow.
Originally from Annapolis, Maryland, Elise graduated from Kenyon College in 2016. At Kenyon, she majored in psychology and minored in environmental studies. During her junior fall, Elise studied abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark. In her free time, Elise enjoys running, laughing with her friends and family, and doing anything outside. Next year, she will be working as an associate teacher at an all-girls private school in Connecticut and working towards completing her master’s degree at Bank Street College of Education in New York City (and hopefully exploring more of New England’s skiing and hiking opportunities!).
As an Overland student, Elise went on Language & Exploration France. In 2013, she was a member of Overland’s Support Staff and lead Berkshire Adventure; in 2014, she led Mountains & Sea Adventure; and in 2015, she led Rocky Mountain Explorer. She writes, “For three years now, I have been lucky enough to witness the almost magical qualities of countless Overland trips. I love leading for Overland because I get the opportunity to help and watch students grow and succeed as both individuals and a group. The transformation is remarkable, and I feel honored to be a part of something so special.”
