Introductory Programs Overview
Overland offers introductory programs in New England for 5th and 6th graders and a program out West for 6th graders. We carefully structure our introductory programs to provide safe, fun activities that engage and excite our students. Our weeklong or two-week adventures provide a life experience with value and resonance that extend far beyond the boundaries of a single summer.
For students currently in grade 5, we offer our Berkshire Adventure program. This weeklong trip introduces our youngest students to Overland's outdoor activities as they explore the Berkshire Hills on foot and by bicycle, hike to the top of Massachusetts' highest mountain, Mt. Greylock, and raft the Deerfield River.
For students currently in grade 6, Overland offers our New England Adventure program. On this weeklong trip, our students bike on Martha's Vineyard, hike in the beautiful Berkshires and raft the Deerfield River. For 6th graders looking for a two-week option, we offer our Mountains & Sea Adventure, which includes hiking in New Hampshire, sea-kayaking Maine's rocky coast and bike rides on Nantucket Island. We also offer the Teton Adventure for 6th graders. We'll spend two weeks in the Jackson area, day hiking and wildlife viewing in Grand Teton and Yellowstone national parks and rafting the exciting Snake River.
